WHO WE ARE
The Music Room connects the young Nashville music community through events and shows that foster collaboration. We provide performance and professional development opportunities for any college student interested in the music industry on the artist or business side.
We aim to change the culture of the young music industry in Nashville to be more inclusive and collaborative, and inviting rather than intimidating. The Music Room is essentially the hypothetical “room” in which college artists can gather to create, learn, perform, and grow together.
Our History
Seeing need of an encompassing network for all types of college music creatives, The Music Room was founded at Vanderbilt University in the Fall of 2020 as an opportunity for musicians and music enthusiasts of all kinds to create, perform, and listen.
Initially, TMR began with a very small executive board led by Christiana, comprised of college friends organizing small shows and events for other Vanderbilt students. As the club picked up substantial attention from Nashville and national businesses and organizations, as well as other local universities, immediate growth was inevitable.
TMR continues to prove itself capable of providing wide-ranging opportunities for its members. The club organizes large shows in collaboration with local Nashville organizations, maintains regular jam sessions, hosts songwriting and producing meets, and more for all musicians and fans.
