BIG news in the world of TMR today. We’re excited to announce that we’re partnering with Lights on the Lawn to present Lecture on the Lawn, a first-of-its-kind music industry panel on September 28th from 6-8pm.
This free event will give students the opportunity to ask questions and network with noteworthy professionals from every corner of the Nashville music scene, from artist management to major label reps to music business entrepreneurs. Here’s a rundown of the speakers:
THE PANELISTS:
Charlene Bryant: Charlene is a Belmont graduate who recently joined UMG Nashville after 5 years at the helm of artist management company Riveter Management, which she founded in 2018. She was named one of Billboard’s Hip-Hop and R&B Power Players in 2020 and 2021 and was recognized with the Women in Music City Award in 2018 and 2019.
Wes Davenport: Wes runs °1824, Universal Music Group’s creative solutions team focused on the connection of artists and brands directly to college-aged fans. He also heads @nocountrynash, a local music publication, and @popsquad615, a pop-music community.
Adria DeLaune: Adria is an artist manager based in Nashville, TN, where she manages a roster of artists including powerhouse vocalist Liv Charette. Across her two decades of experience in the music industry, DeLaune has worked with artists including Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Brett Eldredge, Chris Young and more. She also has a wealth of experience working in events management, recording, and artist development.
Miller Guth: Miller is a manager of Artist and Label Partnerships at Spotify. During his time at Spotify, he has worked on a variety of projects, from Spotify House, a showcase of some of the most talented rising artists, to marketing campaigns for Morgan Wallen. As one of Nashville’s Spotify leaders, he was named to the Nashville Briefing’s 30 under 30 list in 2022.
Chris Ruediger: Chris is a Vanderbilt alum (‘20) who merged his passions of songwriting and music business to create The 615 House, a digital home for influential artists, songwriters and other creatives on the cutting edge of Nashville culture. He’s also the founder and CEO of Walk Off Entertainment, an independent record label.
THE MODERATOR:
Professor Deanna Walker: Deanna is a songwriter, producer and composer living in Nashville, TN. She teaches songwriting at the Blair School at Vanderbilt University, and hosts the popular Blair Hit Songwriter Series class and podcast. She’s had multiple publishing deals and holds a B.M. in piano performance and an M.M. in composition from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
We’ll see you Thursday in the Board of Trust Room at Vanderbilt’s Student Life Center (310 25th Ave S) from 6 to 8pm! The first hour or so will feature stories and experiences from the panelists, followed by an hour of Q&A, food, and networking! Remember to buy your tickets for Lights on the Lawn 11, which will feature DJ duo Loud Luxury. All proceeds from the concert will go directly to the Mary Parrish Center, supporting victims of interpersonal violence in the Nashville community. Come out and support music that matters
